Summary:

Josie Byrne's life is spiraling out of control. Her parents are divorcing, her boyfriend Nick has grown distant, and her physics teacher has it in for her. When she's betrayed by the two people she trusts most, Josie thinks things can't get worse.

Until she starts having dreams about a girl named Jo. Every night at the same time—3:59 a.m.
Jo's life is everything Josie wants: she's popular, her parents are happily married, and Nick adores her. It all seems real, but they're just dreams, right? Josie thinks so, until she wakes one night to a shadowy image of herself in the bedroom mirror – Jo.

Josie and Jo realize that they are doppelgangers living in parallel universes that overlap every twelve hours at exactly 3:59. Fascinated by Jo's perfect world, Josie jumps at the chance to jump through the portal and switch places for a day.

But Jo’s world is far from perfect. Not only is Nick not Jo's boyfriend, he hates her. Jo's mom is missing, possibly insane. And at night, shadowy creatures feed on human flesh.

By the end of the day, Josie is desperate to return to her own life. But there’s a problem: Jo has sealed the portal, trapping Josie in this dangerous world. Can she figure out a way home before it’s too late?

First off I would like to thank HarperCollins Canada for sending me a ARC for read & review.

My Review:
I first saw this book at a HarperCollins event that I attended in June called  HCCFrenzy Presents: Fall Preview & from that moment on I knew I had to have Gretchen McNeil's 3:59. Let me tell you when I ripped open my mail and found out I had been approved for a copy I just about died No seriously I  almost did I was crazy nuts dancing around with it for a good five mins.

Also I just wanna state that why hasn't anyone taken Gretchen's work and turned it into a movie or TV show without ruining it especially 3:59. This book is beyond ah-maxing it kept me so glued to it that even when I had to put it down it was a struggle, oh and another thing this was my first Gretchen McNeil book I have Possess on my shelf  which I haven't read & Ten has be on my TBR since forever.

OK now that I have taken a moment its time to dive into the review ,The book itself is a Fantasy (sci-fi/paranormal) read with all the scientific terminology used I though I would be lost and confused but Gretchen explained everything really well.  In the book we meet Josie Byrne your average run of the mill teenager dealing with the ups and downs of life ,but then she stumbles across a parallel universe that can be reached through a mirror that her mother has and in this universe we all have a twin but even twins can be alarming different!

3:59 holds many twists & turns oh!!! and drama let me tell you there is lots from broken hearts to best friends who are down right devious  the saying that comes to mind while reading this book is  sometimes the grass isn't greener  on the other side. Gretchen really portrayed the characters in this book really well sure at times I wanted to slap Josie and remind her that she needed to stick up for herself but hey we all have some sort of insecurity but reading through the book you come to feel sorry for Josie and the situations she has happening to her.

My Final Thoughts:

If your someone who has thought about diving into a Fantasy (sci-fi/paranormal) for the first time 3:59 would be a great book to start with it doesn't disappoint it has it all Gretchen McNeil didn't leave a stone un-turned.
