The Everafter Author: Amy Huntley

Summary:

Madison Stanton doesn't know where she is or how she got there. But she does know this--she is dead. And alone, in a vast, dark space. The only company she has in this place are luminescent objects that turn out to be all the things Maddy lost while she was alive. And soon she discovers that with these artifacts, she can re-experience--and sometimes even change--moments from her life: Her first kiss. A trip to Disney World. Her sister's wedding. A disastrous sleepover. In reliving these moments, Maddy learns illuminating and sometimes frightening truths about her life--and death.

My Review:

As the reader you travel with Maddy as she travels through The Everafter and re-experiences parts of her life based on the artifacts that are floating around her. From the beginning you can sense that there are more to these objects than meets the eye.

Going back and reliving certain moments allows Maddy to follow the trail to her eventual death, like clues in a mystery game  that she is trying to solve. Along the way Maddy learns how to sit back and watch the events re-enacted instead of personifying her previous self. This lets her see if anyone else is in The Everafter with her and what she finds out amazes her.

Madison's death isn't revealed until the end (oh boy it's a shocker); you're constantly thinking of all the possibilities along with Madison. She comes into contact with others that have passed on who give her direction in terms of discovering what she can do with her 'lost memories' and how she can unlock the moment of her death. Until she does that, she can't move into the Everafter, a mysterious place that sounded beautiful, where you're happy and everyone you love is with you.

 My Final Thoughts:

The concept isn't something I've ever read so I'm still having mixed emotions on how I feel about the book I’m not sure if I hate or love it I found it started it off slow and the chapters made no sense at times but it did pick up at the end where I can say I enjoyed it more It’s a book that you have to read yourself to truly understand how you personally feel about it.
